Dispute Resolution

Construction disputes are costly and time-consuming. UNABSEC provides an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service that helps members resolve conflicts quickly, fairly and cost-effectively without going to court.

Types of disputes we handle:

- Disputes between member companies and clients over contract performance or payment
- Disputes between member companies and subcontractors
- Disputes between member companies over joint venture arrangements
- Disputes with suppliers over quality or delivery of materials
- Employment disputes involving construction workers

Our ADR process:

1. Any party may lodge a dispute with the UNABSEC Secretariat
2. A panel of experienced construction professionals and legal experts is convened
3. Both parties present their case in a structured mediation session
4. The panel facilitates a negotiated resolution
5. If mediation fails, the panel may issue a binding arbitration decision

The UNABSEC ADR process is significantly faster and less expensive than litigation. Decisions reached through our process are respected by Uganda's courts.
